The 3 Kings

The 3 Kings

The 3 Kings – Na Trí Ríthe is a new play about a single Dad (Ken King) struggling to bring up his two teenage sons alone because his wife ran off with a younger man.

The play is set on a couch with the King’s all watching a football match revealing what happens to the boy’s mother throughout the play. NewsFour spoke to the writer of The 3 Kings, Tina Noonan who started writing when she was ten years old but jokingly told us it then took her a few decades to get back into it. Tina joined a creative writing course seven years ago and her play was shortlisted on the RTE PJ O’Connor radio competition. During this time Tina decided to take her plays to stage with her first stage play being The Prodger which will be performed in London later this year.
When casting her 3 kings, Tina told NewsFour, “I was extremely lucky as it is vital to have the right actors to match the writing. I auditioned for both the boy parts and knew they were right within 5 minutes but I had seen the actor Owen O’Gorman in another play and knew instinctively he was perfect for Mr King.” Edmund Tucker who will be playing the part of the fourteen year old Mark King went to Star of the Sea in Sandymount and is now a 2nd year student in St Conleths. This is Edmund’s first time on the stage. Gary Ó Nuailláin plays 19 year old Jules King.
The 3 Kings will be shown in Theatre Upstairs, Lanigan’s Bar, 10 Eden Quay from 11th February to 22nd February, Tuesday to Saturday with a 1pm performance daily and an extra show at 7pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Tickets are 10 Euro. BOOKINGS: 085 772 7375
