A public meeting is being held tonight by Combined Residents Against Incineration to discuss avenues that can be taken to stop the Poolbeg incinerator from going ahead.

CRAI, which includes people from Ringsend, Sandymount and Irishtown, says locals will prevent any work from going ahead, starting with peaceful protest, and possibly leading as far as legal action if necessary.

They are calling on Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly to intervene in conjunction with Dublin City Council, and are seeking an investigation into the US waste company which will be a partner in the operation of the incinerator, Covanta Energy.

The meeting will take place at 8pm in Clanna Gael.
