WHO ARE INTER7S?

Inter7s, who also run Inter6 and Inter5, is largely a small sided soccer league that operates in Irishtown, Sandymount and Clontarf. They run social but competitive leagues and tournaments in the area, and also charity tournaments across the country.

They are a non-profit organisation that gives all net profits to charity, having raised nearly €500,000 over the past eight years for clubs and charities, mainly in the local area.

They deal primarily with soccer, but have also devised rules for field hockey, and are open to other sports. Other charity events they have organised have included poker nights.

The main aim of the tournaments is to provide a fun but competitive small sided soccer environment that provides excellent management and great prizes, and to raise significant amounts of money for local area charities and clubs. The teams play for their individual charity, and the winner decides to whom the money goes.

The aim is to have no profits in the leagues, but where there are profits, it is used to develop the teams and leagues along with funding. Inter7s have grown from one team and 15 members in 2007 to 200 registered teams and 1,500 members today, having hosted over 5,500 games in that time. This allows them to give €30,000 to local charities and events each year in the Dublin 4 area. These include local soccer teams, local charities such as SVP, and local events such as Mr Tilly’s Christmas lights, among others.

Inter7s have raised €450,000 to date and hope to break €500,000 over the next year. This is broken down each season into two funds, one that gives money to local sports clubs, and one that provides money for charities and events.

Inter7s biggest event to date was a soccer and poker tournament for Concern Worldwide in conjunction with Wild Geese FC and Slattery’s Bar on Bath Avenue. They raised €82,000 for Haiti, only two weeks after the devastating earthquake of 2010. Other recipients have included SVP, Peter McVerry trust, ICS and ISPCC. They have also issued money to local events and clubs, and their latest focus is direct to ALL of the money raised in the area, to the area with local assistance.
