A reception was held at Railway Union on Sunday April 19th to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Kenny Carroll, pictured above, in winning international caps for Ireland in both cricket and hockey.

Brendan Smith and FX Carthy presented Kenny with a memento on behalf of the hockey and cricket clubs. A display of memorabilia from Kenny’s international career was unveiled in the bar by Brian Carpenter.

It was fitting the reception took place on the same day as the Joey O’Meara Cup was held. A fine all round sportsman, Joey was the last club member before Kenny to represent Ireland in two codes, winning 52 hockey caps between 1970 and 1977 and two cricket caps, both in 1963.

Sean Condron, pictured below, is the youngest qualified cricket umpire in Europe and made his debut recently when Pembroke V team played Castleknock. Congratulations Sean.
