Since 2009 the Dublin Dock Workers Preservation Society have made it their mission to preserve the history of the Dublin Docks and honor the men and women that worked inside the dock gates and in the surrounding dockland industries.

They have an ambitious project lined up for 2016 and are making a general appeal for help. It concerns the Waterfront News, a monthly newspaper published from July 1960 until June 1973. This paper reflected the goings-on of the dockland communities at that time, but no complete collection of it exists.

It is because of this that the Society is seeking the help of the public to make this a reality. They are hoping for anyone with an old copy of the Waterfront News to contact them, along with anyone who was involved in the production or has a relative who was.

Anyone who can contribute would be aiding the accomplishment of a great feat, as it would allow for the collection to be digitized and for the public to have access to the full and rich history of the docklands for the first time ever.

Anyone with helpful information can contact Alan Martin at 087-2095974.
