Railway Union’s Under-16 side won the Junior Jacqui Potter Cup title in some style thanks to a 3-0 win over Muckross on St. Patrick’s Day.

Railway possess a talented squad with the likes of the Carey twins, Niamh and Michelle who also played for the senior side later in the afternoon against Loreto.

With Niamh up front and Michelle in midfield and Niamh Shaw dominating at the back for Railway, the Sandymount side were very much to the fore in the opening period.

Their domination eventually told when a well-executed short corner saw the ball hit the backboard after a straight strike from Niamh Shaw as the first receiver.

The second goal also came in the form of a penalty corner in the 52nd minute. with Michelle Carey putting away the penalty corner after a switch. The killer third goal arrived eight minutes later as Union put the game to bed through Kate Orr. Once again. the goal came via a penalty corner, but this time it was from second phase play.
