Poem For Darkness Into Light, Ringsend.

I see you smiling, but can read your eyes,
You’re trying so hard, to keep the tears inside,
You cannot feel the sun, nor stop the pounding rain,
You long for better days and an end to your pain.

I know I don’t know you, or know what you’re here for,
But please try to learn, from those who left before,
If you’re looking for rescue or your purpose feels unclear,
Then count me as one person, who’s glad that you’re still here.

I can tell you with all honesty, that there are better days ahead,
When you’re free from the shadows that keep you in your bed,
I know I do not know you, but I love you all the same,
And those that went before us, your death is not in vain.

Good will always overcome and as I stand here tonight,
I join my new friends as we walk into the light.
