Get out there and get your annual fill of Away in a Manger, Deck the Halls and Frosty the Snowman with your local choirs this Christmas. A busy time for carol singers, you will find them in concert halls, churches, department stores, on doorsteps and on the streets singing songs for this special time of year. Some choirs serve their own parishes and others will entertain the general public secular and non-secular alike.
Elm Park Golf Club Choir of Donnybrook have a variety of venues and dates including Sunday the 15th at Leopardstown Park Hospital, providing there are no restrictions due to winter vomiting flu, they will be on the wards entertaining patients, staff and families, who are welcome to join in the singing. On Thursday afternoon the 19th of December the choir will sing in Merrion Shopping Centre to raise funds for St.Vincent de Paul, a worthy cause particularly at this time of year when the pressure of poverty can reach its highest for individuals and families under financial stress. Other dates include Friday the 13th at Elm Park Golf Club where a concert will be held for members and guests and a final carol service for patients at St. Johns Nursing Home, Merrion Road on Sunday the 22nd.
In St. Thomas Church, Mount Merrion, Carols by Candlelight will take place on the 22nd of December 2013 from 7 pm to 8 pm and will be a warm and inviting service. The Church will be decorated with candle sconces and everyone will be given a candle to hold creating a memorable, atmospheric and spiritual carol service with non-alcoholic mulled wine served after with the drivers in mind.
Merry Christmas
