Celebrate the International Year of Light as UCD presents Light and Shadow, a day of tours, displays, exhibitions and talks.
The day will kick off at 11am with “Light(s), Camera, Action…”, a key note talk from a face everybody is familiar with: the MET Office’s Deputy Head of Forecasting, Evelyn Cusack. Other talks throughout the day will include Listening to See in Dark: a Bat’s Perspective; Light, Vision and Health; Light from the Edge of Time; and Therapeutic Light.
Exhibitions on the day include The Cellular Light Show, giving an insight to the role of light in helping us to learn about things invisible to the naked eye; The Colour Box, where you can experience how colour affects our perception; and The Chemistry of Light, which will allow you to witness some of the colour-filled fun chemists can have with electricity and light!
The guided tours run throughout the day, but have limited places, so be sure to visit the registration desk to avoid disappointment! The three tours are Light, Colour and Flavour – a Multisensory Experience; Explore the UCD O’Brien Centre; and Light and the Planet’s Most Important Organisms – Plants.
Light and Shadow runs from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, and entry is free. You can reserve your place here, and view the full programme here.
