Hockey match in progress

Hockey has perhaps unfairly garnered a reputation for being a sport of the upper classes.

Not so in the Americas of course where the frozen version is played by people of all social backgrounds. The field variety is a lot more sedate and you are far less likely to get a puck in the face from your opponent, or indeed, the puck.

If hockey is a sport you have always wondered about but never tried, we have some good news. The Railway Union Hockey Club on Park Avenue in Sandymount are holding social summer hockey evenings on Monday July 10th and Monday July 17th for those who want to give it a go.

All are welcome for kick off, throw in, or puck off at 8pm, and those looking for more information should contact
