Ringsend and Irishtown Tidy Towns & Environment (RITE) have entered into the SuperValu Tidy Towns Competition again this year and are calling on all businesses to help them out by keeping their premises clean and well presented.

They would also love to include individual entries for front-of-business and residential gardens to the judging panel so if you are interested, let the Tidy Towns members know on their social media and they will make sure you get a shot at picking up an award.. If you’re not in, you can’t win!

Everyone can help together and do their little bit which makes a huge difference in the community and the TidyTowns members focus is to encourage people to improve their local environment and make their area a better place to live, work and visit as this creates a ‘sense of place’ for those living in the area.  The group is fundamentally about doing things properly –  good planning, well maintained buildings and public spaces, appropriate landscaping and respect for natural amenities.  It is also important to remember biodiversity, clean and uncluttered streets, but most importantly, community engagement.

The national Tidy Towns competition is an annual contest organised by the Department of Rural and Community Development.

The competition involves participating areas being rated on all aspects of their local environment and prizes are awarded to the best, under many different categories.

The overall winner is ‘Ireland’s Tidiest Town’, which is announced in September each year.

Ringsend and Irishtown Tidy Towns & Environment meet up every Saturday at 12pm and can be found on their Facebook group.
