On the 28th October otherworldly will descend upon the vaults of the CHQ building in historic Dublin Docklands, as spirits big and small will gather for the inaugural family Samhain festival! The EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum promises to offer the perfect blend of spooky, not scary events this Halloween. The main storytelling and Seanchaí Facilitator is Eddie Lenihan.

AGES 5+
Shadow Puppet Show and Workshop: Learn all about the ancient art of shadow puppetry and create your own Samhain tale in this workshop suitable for ages 5+. Discover how Halloween of old was celebrated in Ireland.
PISEÓG Mask Making Workshop: Join EPIC and the Irish Family History Centre for this mask
making workshop suitable for ages 5 – 12 years old. It’s time to hide amongst
the faeries and the goblins in this art and craft workshop, where you’ll create
a creepy (or cute) Halloween mask of your choice, all materials are included.

6+
Spellcasting sessions with our
resident good Witch Cailleach as she explores Samhain
traditions of old. Taking place in EPIC’s underground vaults, embrace the power
of Ireland’s natural world and create affirmations and mantras to inspire
positive wellbeing.

Craft Workshop: Embrace your inner Sióga and make your own faery crown in this creative craft workshop suitable for ages 6+. Irish milliner Laura Whelan from L. Design will show you how to use traditional and sustainable materials to create the perfect Royal headdress piece. You can bring extra materials along.
AGES 7+
Explore myths, mayhem and monsters in this creative writing workshop suitable for ages 7+. As the ghouls and goblins descend upon our world this Halloween, join Dublin based company Horror Expo Presents for this ghost-writing workshop. The Monsters, Myths and Merrow Writing Workshop will use creative play and performance as a means of exploring the myths of Samhain monsters old and new.
AGES 8+
Wreath making Workshop: Celebrate the season of Samhain (Halloween) and adorn your door in age old fashion by creating a unique wreath made out of traditional materials with Laura Whelan from L. Design. Suitable for ages 8+, this wreath making workshop will focus on creative play and participation while exploring traditional Irish crafts.

Family Tales Ghost Story Workshop: Embrace your inner Seanchaí (storyteller) in this ghost writing workshop for ages 8 – 14 years old. The Irish are well-known for their love of storytelling. Here is an interactive ghost-writing workshop swuitable for ages 8 – 14 years old and facilitated by EPIC and the Irish Family History Centre. Sharing some spooky tales aloud and learn to use the myths and legends of Halloween to create an illustrated storybook to take home.
