A perfect blend of art, community and cafe culture
The Fair Play Cafe in Ringsend hosted its 7th art exhibition launch in early October with The Smallest Walk-In Gallery in Ireland well becoming the most popular spot for local artistry and creativity. With sketches, dreamy landscapes, bold abstract pieces and colourful popart adorning every available wall inside and outside, each artwork contributed its own personality and a glimpse into the diverse perspectives of the artists to the already cosy, inviting ambience of the Fair Play Cafe.
NewsFour’s Louise Whelan and Oksana Sotnykova, along with Kay Hawkins transformed the cafe into a dynamic gallery, with each work being thoughtfully curated by Joe Donnelly to get the best mix of light, warmth and connection of the surrounding space.
This exhibition wasn’t just about visual art. Thanks to Rose Sunderland and her guitar sesh, she gave the event something extra that added to the atmosphere and her songs blended seamlessly with the vibe of the day, adding another layer to the sensory experience.
Cheers to everyone who showed up, who purchased the art, took photos, and drank the wine (lol). And especially to Joe and Sharon Donnelly and the Fair Play Cafe team and everybody who helped and supported in any way to get this organised. You’re all stars. This exhibition is a reminder that not all art has to be confined to the normal galleries, sometimes it is best enjoyed over a cup of coffee (or tea!) with friends, or alone, just simply lost in a moment of reflection (of what to paint next!)
Looking forward to the upcoming 8th artwork in December, to be displayed by an adult artist who lives with Down Syndrome. So keep your eyes peeled on the social media platforms for more information.
