Suzie McCormack is an Irish Artist based in Dublin. She has worked in many media including: painting, photography, sculpture and film making. Since 2018 she has been primarily working in a two-dimensional format. Her “Cave paintings” are colourful, imaginative mixed media works in medium size.
The works are created using acrylic, pastels and other material including found objects. Assemblage and collage elements are frequently used. The methods and materials are chosen to facilitate a raw expressive immediacy.
The process is deliberate in that she engages with what comes forth in the creation of each piece but not in a conceptual way. It is a playful call and response type of action. A dance of feeling and form always seeking balance and harmony. The process is interactive, mediumistic, alive. The works have both abstract and figurative elements. The highly subjective landscapes in the works reflect both the natural and the magical of her process and translate it into visual from.
