The Little Book of Christmas Memories
The Little Book of Christmas Memories

Christmas time is a season for reflection among other things. With advertising campaigns kicking into high gear as soon as Halloween is behind us provoking weeks of preparation and planning for gift-shopping, food and travel plans. By the time family are gathered and the meals eaten, we naturally fall into reminiscing. This is the theme of a new anthology from Liberties Press titled The Little Book of Christmas Memories.

The book, which will be published next month, features contributions from a diverse range of contemporary writers and broadcasters, themed around memories of Christmas. Contributors include celebrated author and playwright Sebastian Barry; authors Roddy Doyle and Dermot Bolger; raconteur and Senator David Norris; Christine Dwyer Hickey winner of the Irish Novel of the Year award 2011, and blogger/actress Sharyn Hayden, creator of Raising Ireland, the online resource for Irish parents.

In keeping with the spirit of the season and the risks of that time of year, all author royalties from sales of the book will be donated to AWARE, the charity dedicated to raising awareness and provided support for those who suffer from depression and related conditions. Winter is a tough time for those among us who suffer depression-related conditions, so if this book sounds like your thing, or like an ideal present, then you can think of it as giving two gifts, one for a loved one and one for a stranger…‘tis the season!
