Where will you be this New year’s eve? In less than 48 hours we will be in 2014 and what better way to honour the dawn of a new year than to take part in celebrations in your capital city.

Events have been organised in Dublin to keep adults and children entertained. For a family friendly event the Procession of Light is a dazzling light show that will illuminate the streets of Dublin with hundreds of street performers. The procession will begin at 6.30pm at St. Stephen’s Green and weave its way along the streets down through South William Street and back up Grafton street to St. Stephen’s Green at 19.45 for a grande finale show.

Excitement for the over 18s begins at 8.30pm on College Green with the Countdown Concert, headlining ska band Madness will follow performances by Ryan Sheridan, MKS ( formerly Sugababes), The Strypes and Seo Linn.

Alternatively, check out Hard Working Class Hero’s festival with up to 34 new musical bands performing in coffee shops, restaurants and bookshops across the city singing in the new year. The Sugar Club is hosting New Years Thieves including acts Simon and Al of Synth Eastwood, a screening of the 1960 classic The Apartment followed by live music from Lisa O’Neill, there will be artisan food and beer available.

As we countdown to midnight a 3D projection will illuminate Trinity College Dublin for a visual spectacular to ring in the new year and will be broadcast nationwide and across the globe. If you prefer fireworks, a fantastic display will be on show at Dun Laoghaire’s east and west piers at midnight.

Happy new year from all at NewsFour.
