Some of the countries biggest sporting stars are teaming up with hundreds of sports enthusiasts to undertake Goal’s 120 Mile Global Run.

The event, which is being undertaken in aid of the Philippines and is in its 32nd year, was launched by Leinster rugby star Jamie Heaslip and GAA footballer Alan Brogan. Former world champions Eamonn Coghlan and Sonia O’Sullivan are also throwing their weight behind the event.

The run will take place at 114 locations throughout Ireland as well as London, Australia and Toronto. Previous runs have also been held in New York and Abu Dhabi.

“We have made an extra special effort with the GOAL Mile this year,” said the CEO of GOAL, Barry Andrews. “Apart from consolidating our relationships with our team of organisers here in Ireland, we were also very keen to get some Miles up and running in some of the world’s biggest cities.”

Members of the Irish Defence Forces stationed in the Golan Heights – a Syrian territory occupied by Israel – have also volunteered to partake in the event on Christmas Day.

There will be a Dublin 4 GOAL Mile at Irishtown Stadium on 25th of December from 10am to Midday.
