David Carroll has been running Trivia Quizzes every year since 2011 to raise funds for the Cancer Clinical Research Trust which is a registered charity that supports a cancer research program. David was a patient of leading Oncologist Professor John Crown at St Vincent’s Hospital where he and his family received great care and attention during this difficult time. His family wished to do something to show their appreciation so they came up with the idea of a Trivia Quiz to raise money.
The Old Wesley Rugby Football Club in Donnybrook has become the yearly slot were the Quiz is held. David tells NewsFour “Michael Weafer of Old Wesley RFC was brilliant in making the Club available and has looked after us very well each year as he does with all social functions held at the Club.” Since 2011, David and his team have raised over €6K for the CCRT through the quiz. He received great support from local businesses in Dublin 4 who have now come on board as sponsors. David would like to thank the following businesses: The Black Pig, Donnybrook, Mao at Home, Donnybrook, Mink, Donnybrook, Bombay Pantry, Clonskeagh, O’Connells Restaurant, Donnybrook, Ravi’s Kitchen, Ballsbridge, Bianconi’s Bistro, Merrion Road,The Wooden Spoon, Blackrock, The Flower Box, Mount Merrion, Rasam Indian Restaurant, Glasthule, Russell Court Hotel and the Woodbine Pharmacy in Booterstown.
The Old Wesley Rugby Football Club in Donnybrook will be having this year’s Trivia Quiz this Friday 24th January but due to their fantastic support, the quiz is completely booked out. The Cancer Clinical Research Trust is dedicated to reducing the burden of cancer suffering through the development of improved treatment for cancer patients.
