Men and their Sheds

The Irish Men’s Shed Association (IMSA) will be holding its first Annual Collection during the first week of April, in a bid to raise funds for the not-for-profit organisation.

The IMSA is made up of 191 autonomous community-based groups around the country. Each Shed provides a safe space for men which is friendly and inclusive, and which allows them to work on projects, or even to simply enjoy a chat and a cup of tea. The aim is to help improve the health and general well-being of men, who often tend not to express themselves or to look for help when it is needed.

All proceeds from the collection will help to fund these non-commercial groups, meaning that at least 80% will remain at a local level once the campaign costs have been covered. Most Men’s Sheds will be collecting on the 3rd and 4th of April.

If you are interested in the Men’s Shed movement, the East Wall Men’s Shed runs on Thursdays from 10am to 1pm in the East Wall Watersports Centre, off Alfie Byrne Road. For further information, contact Paul Graham at nascadhcdp@eircom.net, or on 01 8893985.
