Dublin Dock Workers Preservation Society

Docks Colour 600x400

Have you got an interest in the Docklands area and its history? Then join the Dublin Dock Workers Preservation Society when they hold a meeting tonight in East Wall. Various items will be on the agenda, including a report on their efforts to start up a partnership with the Dublin Port Company and SIPTU.

The Society is made up of former dock workers and others who wish to see the history and heritage of the Docklands area preserved. They have a catalogue of over 3,500 photos relating to former dock workers and their activities dating from the 1980s to present day, which can be accessed at www.bluemelon.com/alanmartin.

They are always looking for people to help out by sending on any memorabilia relating to the Docklands. If you think you can help out, get in touch on 0872095974 or through their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Dublindockers.

You can join the Society for their meeting tonight at 8pm in the Sean O’Casey Community Centre on St. Mary’s Road in East Wall.
