Local Teacher Reaches Awards Finals

Voting is open for this year’s What’s On 4 Junior Awards, and local Spanish language teacher Laura Madrigal is a finalist in the category of Most Outstanding Activity Leader for Children.

Now in their second year, the awards have given parents and carers an opportunity to say thank you to the people and companies who have provided the best activities for their children.

Laura was overjoyed to hear about her nomination. “I am absolutely delighted to have been nominated in these Awards, particularly as it’s the parents and children who have voted for me,” she says. “For me it is so important for children to learn a second language; it comes easy to very young children, therefore it is the ideal time to familiarise them with sounds and patterns of a new language.”

Laura teaches Spanish in Ringsend and Irishtown Community Centre, and Ringsend District Community Playgroup & Creche, through La Jolie Ronde, a programme used in schools across Ireland and abroad to teach French and Spanish to children. “With La Jolie Ronde’s programme, the emphasis is on ‘fun’, and my classes are designed to encourage a positive approach to language learning. The children are therefore more relaxed and better at pronunciation and imitating sounds.”

If you are interested in Laura’s classes, you can contact her at 0851264949 or by email at laura.madrigal@lajolierondelicensee.co.uk.

You can vote for Laura at whatson4littleones.ie/award-voting.asp before the 15th of May, when voting closes. The winners will be announced on the 20th of June.
