Tidy Towns Special Award for Waste Prevention

tidy towns

Help out in your community for this year’s Tidy Towns Special Award for Waste Prevention. This special award is all about helping to stop waste before it even happens.

With a first prize of €1,000 and two runner-up prizes of €500 each, the Environmental Protection Agency wants to recognise and reward communities who have made the effort to prevent waste and use resources more efficiently.

Any activity that reduces waste, energy or water use, or use of materials will be considered, such as promoting walking and cycling locally, re-using materials from within the community, or rainwater collection.

Check out http://localprevention.ie/tidy-categories/transport/ for more ideas, or if you have any queries or questions send an email with “Tidy Towns Waste Prevention award” as the subject to info@epa.ie.

The application form can be found at http://localprevention.ie/tidy-towns/ and applications can be submitted by email to tidytown@environ.ie, or by post to Tidy Towns Unit, Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government, Teeling Street, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo. The closing date for applications is the 22nd of May.
