Sandymount Gospel Choir Concert

Gospel Choir

Join Sandmount Gospel Choir tomorrow for an uplifting night of song!

All proceeds from the concert go to the Sandymount Matero Friendship Programme, which has linked Sandymount with Matero since 2008. The programme provides food and an education to 250 primary school children in this impoverished suburb of Lusaka in Zambia, and is also enabling 25 children to continue on with a post-primary education, all through the support of the people of Sandymount.

The Choir is entirely made up of amateur singers, under the direction of musician Cathy McEvoy, a member of the Gospel Project who also teaches at Walton’s School of Music. Although this is their first professional concert, the Choir has been together for five years, with regular appearances in Sandymount’s St Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, as well as having sung in Christchurch and on Sandymount Green for the Presbyterian and Methodist Congregation.

For more information, or if you would be interested in joining the choir, see the Choir’s Facebook page or contact Concert Committee Chairperson Cindy Carroll at cindycarroll@eircom.net or on 087 9725220.

The Choir will be joined by by Castleknock Folk Group for the concert, which starts at 8pm in Lansdowne Football Club beside the Aviva Stadium. Tickets cost €10, and you can get them from Michael Byrne Butcher and Murtagh’s Hardware, but they will also be available at the door on the night.
