The RDS will be hosting a series of eight free talks in its Concert Hall and Library from the 29th of September to the 19th of November.

The Library Speaker Series will cover a diverse range of range of topics, from Antarctica Then and Now: The Legend of Shackleton to Sunset or Sunrise: Irish Agriculture.

The first talk is entitled The Conservation of Sharks: Sharks Beware of Humans, not Humans Beware of Sharks, and will be taking place on Monday the 29th of September at 6.30pm in the RDS Minerva Suite. Presented in association with the Irish Basking Shark Study Group and the Embassy of the United States, Dr. Peter Klimley, also known as “Dr. Hammerhead” will reveal the true nature of sharks and the difficulties faced in trying to conserve different species of shark.
