Get inspired with a musical twist at Mrs Doubtfayre this weekend!

Mrs Doubtfayre takes place on Saturday in the RDS, and consists of a craft fair, accompanied by two performances of amateur drama group Inspiration’s musical adaptation of Mrs. Doubtfire.

The roles of Daniel Hillard/Mrs Doubtfire and Daniel’s long-suffering ex-wife Miranda Hillard are played by Michael Conway and Nicole Harrison, who has been selected from the Bray Institute of Further Education. The show also features up-and-coming talent, singer/songwriter Chris Gethings as television station CEO Mr Lundy. Chris’ new single Love-Hate will be released on the night.

The founder of Inspiration, Iris Whelan told NewsFour that the show is an emotional roller coaster, with a heavy emphasis on reaching out to people who have experienced or are currently experiencing the difficulties of a family separation, and letting them know that a positive outcome is possible.

The show is also a tribute to late comedic giant Robin Williams, who played Mrs Doubtfire in the original film. “We want to put across the life motto of another role played by Robin Williams, Patch Adams: ‘Laughter is the best medicine.’”

There will be two performances of the Mrs Doubtfayre show throughout the day, at 12pm and 8pm, A raffle will be held on the day, with all proceeds from raffle tickets going towards Pieta House. Inspiration have successfully raised funds for Talk to Tom and Arklow Cancer Support Group with their two previous showings of Mrs Doubtfayre in Gorey and Arklow.

Entry is free to the Craft Fayre, where 25 people will be exhibiting from 10am until 8pm. Tickets to each performance cost €12.50 and can be available from Ticketmaster.
