The Dublin Dock Workers Preservation Society are holding a meeting tonight in the Sean O’Casey Centre in East Wall.

All are welcome to attend the meeting, which will start at 7.30 and cover:

  1. The society’s upcoming photographic exhibition and talk on “The Importance of Preserving the History of Dublin Port”. This will be held from 7.30-9.30pm in the Mansion House (Oak Room) on Thursday the 20th of November. SIPTU President Jack O’Connor and historian and author Ann Matthews have been confirmed as speakers, with the CEO of the Dublin Port Company Eamonn O’Reilly also invited to speak;
  2. The current exhibition in the CHQ Building, where 100 photos are being displayed from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday. They also plan to run a series of events running from 2-5pm every Saturday from the 29th to the 20th of December;
  3. A report on the work undertaken to bring the society into line with Heritage Council Standards;
  4. Requests for cooperation on three upcoming projects: dealing with the Waterfront newspaper; interviewing old Dublin dockers and fishermen; and holding a photographic exhibition of the Sheriff Street / North Wall area;
  5. Their 2015 calendar;
  6. The society’s financial report;
  7. Any other business.
