Time is running out to enter the Dublin Bus Community Spirit Awards!

Ever wondered what happens to all the change leftover when you don’t have the exact fare for the bus and never claim it back? Dublin Bus channel this money back into local communities around the Greater Dublin Area via the Community Spirit Awards.

Each year the Dublin Bus Community Spirit Awards bestow grants of €1,000, €2,000 or €5,000 on all kinds of voluntary groups within Dublin Bus’ operating area, including youth clubs, community development projects, football clubs and groups supporting people with disabilities. Since 2004 they have helped over 1,800 groups. Some of the 86 winners in 2014 were Age Action, PALS Preschool, Sticks and Stones, and Nurture.

Dublin Bus chief executive Paddy Doherty said: “Every day Dublin commuters support us as they join us on Dublin Bus routes around the Greater Dublin Area and the awards give us the chance to support those communities we service. Growing each year, the Community Spirit Awards helps Dubliners put long-term unclaimed change to good use by giving back to their own communities and improving local areas across the city.”

Time is running out to enter! The closing date for entries is this Friday (May 29) at 5pm. You can complete an entry form on the Dublin Bus website, and successful entries will be informed from August.
