The Big Grill Festival is coming back to Herbert Park this weekend!
The festival will feature bushcraft and wildfire demos, music, talks and plenty of food, while FoodTube vlogger DJ BBQ hosts proceedings, spinning some tunes and serving up his famous 21-hour pulled pork and beef burgers.
Braver festival-goers will be invited to take part in the Hot Wing Challenge, where six of their 30 hot wings are extreme heat and the first to pick all the bones clean wins; and the Chilli Pepper Challenge, where contestants will be faced with chillies going higher up in Scoville ratings, and the last person sitting wins!
Ireland’s first American-style slow ‘n’ low barbeque competition, Big Grill Pitmasters will be held on Saturday and Sunday, with the winning team going forward to take part in Tennessee’s prestigious Jack Daniels Invitational.
There will be lots of fun for all the family on Saturday and Sunday, when the Kids’ Area gets into full swing with the Great Herbert Park Bug Hunt, Paul the Magician, a puppet workshop, and Goldilocks and the Bears among the attractions!
Musical acts featured over the four days will include DJ Yoda, Stomptown Brass, Handsome Paddy and Mama Kasbah, as well as Brazilian Samba ensemble Morro 16.
The festival runs from 4pm to 9pm tomorrow and Friday, and midday to 9pm on Saturday and Sunday. Excluding the booking fee, tickets range from €10 for a day pass, to the Whole Hog at €45. They can be bought on the festival’s Eventbrite page. The full programme for the four days can be found on the Big Grill Festival website.
