Do you know any Silver Surfers?

Nominations are now open for the Age Action Silver Surfer Awards 2015!

Age Action are looking to recognise older people who embrace technology with enthusiasm, and have a story to share about how and why they use a computer and the internet. The group hopes to find role models who can raise awareness amongst over 50s of the benefits of being online, inspiring those who have not done it yet to give it a try.

The awards categories are: the Silver Surfer Award for an older person who embraces the internet or technology with a sense of fun; the New to IT Award for a person over 50 who has overcome challenges to become an IT user; the Hobbies on the Net Award for an older person who uses the internet to pursue their passion or hobby, or who uses IT for communication and social networking; and the Golden IT Award, which goes to an individual over the age of 80 who uses technology to enhance their life. The work of tutors who teach IT to older learners also receive recognition, with the IT Tutor(s) of the Year Award.

Nominations close on Sunday, October 4, so there is still plenty of time to a friend, neighbour or relative! You can do so by filling in the form on the Age Action website, or by phoning Anne-Marie on (01) 475 6989.
