It may not have been the best of summers, but the somewhat disappointing weather has not got in the way of things for many of our teams – if recent results are anything to go by.

First up is our senior camogie team who secured the overall Senior 4 league title by means of a recent away win against St Peregrines with a score line of 4-8 to 1-6.
This was a physical encounter, but hard work, coupled with fine hurling, gave Clanns the upper hand. Well done to all the players as well as to the management team of Michael Egan and Conor Dodd. Overall, this league campaign has been excellent for the players, who have continued to develop great team spirit and determination – a perfect foundation on which to build for the forthcoming championship.

Congratulations also to our Junior Ladies Footballers in recently winning the Championship – defeating a very good Wild Geese side in the final with an impressive score line of 5-7 to 1-7. The huge effort they’ve put in since January was rewarded with this hard-earned victory.

The old saying that goals win games definitely held through here as the Clanns goal keeper kept the opposition at bay, while the forwards were able to deliver the goals at the opposite end of the field. Great credit is also due to the management team of Claire O’Dea, James Boylan and Pat Kane.

Our U15 and U16 hurlers have also been doing well in their respective championships. At the time of writing, both teams have made it through to the semi-final stages where they are due to meet St Vincents and Raheny respectively. Whatever the outcome, they will already have done themselves and club proud.

An ever-increasing number of teams from the Juvenile section are participating in team games every week in the Club colours in hurling, camogie and football across all age groups – from U10 right up to U18 (minor). In line with Club ethos, it’s all about participating – competing and winning provide the icing on the cake!

Younger age groups still are accommodated every Saturday morning in the Club Academy; and new participants are welcome at all times.

Meanwhile, our most senior teams continue to acquit themselves very well. The footballers currently stand in the upper half of their league table in Division 3. And our hurlers are certainly holding their own in the Division 4 league, where they currently lie ahead of such powerhouses of hurling as Ballyboden St Endas and Lucan Sarsfield.

The ongoing success of the Club is also reflected in the increasing number of individual players who are featuring with Dublin County teams: to mention but a few, Ella Darcy and Lucy Crowe with the Dublin U12 footballers, Karl Morgan and Colm O’Briain with the U14 hurlers, Des Duggan with the U15 hurlers, Andrew Doolin with the U16 footballers and Kim Flood and Rebecca McDonnell with the Dublin Senior Ladies footballers. Continued success to them all and to all those other players getting ready to follow in their footsteps!

Off the field of play, the Club’s calendar of events is filling up, with a Race Night on October 24th in the club bar and the Christmas Dinner and Party at the Club on December 12th. Further details and lots more information can be found at www.clannagaelfontenoy.ie
