Census Enumerators Needed!

writing-828911_1920

It is almost Census time again, and the Central Statistics Office is looking for enumerators!

The enumerators duties will involve distributing and collecting 2.3 million census forms over the course of ten weeks. They will receive training and must sign up as Officers of Statistics, requiring them to keep all information picked up during their work confidential. They will receive a fixed fee, which will cover not only training, but also home storage, Sunday working, terminal bonus and travel.

While applications are currently open from tomorrow until Friday, the CSO will accept no more than 15,000 in total – a number which CSO Senior Statistician Deirdre Cullen doesn’t take long to be filled: “Every person who applies is interviewed. That is why we cap the number of applications at 15,000. In the 2011 Census, this happened very quickly. That’s why we’re advising people to apply on January 5 to ensure they have an opportunity to be interviewed for the position.”

1,258 enumerators are needed in Dublin from March 21 to May 27, working for a minimum of 22 flexible hours per week, which will be during evenings and weekends for the most part. Applications open online tomorrow, and you can find out more about the position on the census website.
