It’s time to volunteer for the Battle of Mount Street Bridge!

South Dock ’16 Society is recruiting “Volunteers” for its play commemorating the Battle of Mount Street Bridge.

The historical society has been collecting stories from the area around Ringsend, Sandymount and Pearse Street about the 1916 Rising, and are preparing to stage a play in April centring on the action of the battle, when a handful of Irish volunteers attempted to hold off British forces.

Volunteers are needed to fill the roles of three main male parts and there are also some smaller walk-on parts with one or two lines for both men and women.

No experience is needed to take part, so get in touch with the society on 085 737 8998, or by email at aoreardon@msn.com.
