Anyone wishing to learn more about herbs has a great opportunity beginning this weekend.

2015 Bloom Gold Medalist Joan Mallon will host a series of workshops at the Enable Ireland Garden & Gift Store. She will be teaching attendees how to grow herbs and cultivate a herb bed, as well as giving them advice on how to harvest and preserve the herbs.

The first workshop will take place this Saturday May 14th, running from 11am to 1pm. There will also be a special “Summer Salads” workshop on Saturday June 11th at 11am, which will teach vegetable growing for beginnings.

This promises to teach attendees of the many advantages to growing one’s own herbs. Not only are home-grown herbs cheaper than store-bought ones, they also taste better and are more plentiful in smaller amounts.

Admission to these workshops is €10, which covers tea or coffee and a scone. People who wish to attend should contact Grainne be calling (01) 261 5928 or emailing gardencentre@enableireland.ie to book a place.
