The Irish Astronomical Society will be looking to the stars in Sandymount this weekend, and the public are invited to join them.

At 8pm on Friday May 13th, the DSA will meet at the car park on Strand Road, just south of the Sandymount Martello Tower. Partaking in this event is free, and all are welcome.

This activity is called “Dublin Sidewalk Astronomers” and has been occuring since 1989. Members of the Irish Astronomical Society bring their telescopes to the streets of the city and seek to educate and amaze the public with the wonders of the night sky.

It is advised that anyone wishing to attend check http://www.irishastrosoc.org/events/events.htm after 6pm on the night, as the event is weather-dependent and may be cancelled in the case of bad weather. It is hoped that the weather will be suitable, and that the more superstitious residents will not be put off by the date!
