A march led by a colour party and piper left Liberty Hall making its way to Pearse Street and St Andrew’s Resource Centre, where the unveiling of a plaque to the Irish Citizens’ Army was followed by a reception.
Speakers explained the ICA and what motivated local people like Elizabeth O’Farrell and Peader Macken.
The plaque commemorates the men, women and young people from the surrounding area who served with the Irish Citizen Army during the revolutionary period 1913 – 23.
