The Sandymount Ladies Golfing Society (SLGS) in partnership with O’Reilly’s Golfing Society (ORGS), held an enjoyable and profitable golf and BBQ day in aid of Pieta House on Friday, July 1st. The event took place in St Margaret’s Golf Club and a great game of golf was had by all, despite the varied weather of rain, hail and sunshine!

In the evening everyone returned to O’Reilly’s pub for a delicious BBQ. SLGS Captain, Maxine Pilkington, from Bennetts Auctioneers, conducted a very successful auction and raffle. She would like to thank the many local traders who kindly donated spot prizes. A grand total of €4,170.00 was raised for Pieta House from the fundraising.

This is the third year that both these local golfing societies, known as SLORGS for this annual charity event, have come together to raise funds for good causes. Previous recipients of their generosity include Plurabelle Breast Cancer Research in 2014, and the Alzheimer’s Society in 2015. This year Pieta House was chosen because, as Pilkington noted, they provide “a most vital and unfortunately very necessary service.”
