A history of Italians in Ireland

Italian photographs at the RDS

Time is running out to head down to the RDS library and catch a photographic exhibition documenting Italians living in Ireland.

The display, organised in conjunction with COMITES Irlanda, is a compilation of photographs drawn from a private collection of the late Cavaliere Barbato Borza and other sources.

Cavaliere Barbato Borza (known as Barbi) was born in Dublin on 11th January 1959 of Italian parents from Casalattico – a small village north of Naples.

The exhibition is the result of many years of collecting photographs from Italian families who came to reside and work in Ireland from the end of the 1800’s to 2005.

The RDS library is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 10.00am to 5.00pm and until 6.00pm on Wednesday and Thursday. The exhibition runs until Friday 21st April.
