On a balmy evening in May, Irishtown FC hosted a friendly soccer game in Ringsend park with a visiting team from Germany, TSV Flachslanden.

A large crowd enjoyed the evening, with the game finishing honors even at 2 each, and Irishtown winning out narrowly on penalties. Not since Shane Long’s wunder goal in 2015, have an Irish team got one over on the Germans, although there was no qualification for a major championships at stake here!

The famous Scoby Larkin came out of retirement for the game, “The Shipwright Guesthouse” supplied the food, and some very strong German spirits were had afterwards in the pub.
