Women from hockey clubs in the Dublin 4 area are part of an unbeaten Ireland team who have made it into the quarter finals of the World Cup in London. The Irish team are the 2nd lowest seed in the group but have so far beaten the United States and India and go on to play their remaining game in their group against England this Sunday at 7pm. Anna O Flanagan from Muckross Park College, who now plays for Pinoke in the Netherlands, scored Ireland’s only goal when they beat India yesterday to guarantee a place in the Vitality World Cup quarter finals. Other players from D4 are Katie Mullan and Elena Tice (UCD), Railway Union’s Grace O Flanagan as substitute goalie, Gillian Pinder from Pembroke Wanderers and Nicci Daly from Muckross Hockey club. The team are scheduled to play their quarter final match on the 2nd of August. The match will be broadcasted on BT Sport.
