New Lord Mayor of Ringsend and Irishtown

A big congratulations from NewsFour to Derek Buckley on recently being elected Lord Mayor of Ringsend and Irishtown. Derek has worked tirelessly over the years as a community volunteer and took up the reins on May 1st last at the Stay Day Parade organised by the RICC. The selfless and bold actions of Derek and Michael Larkin last year with balcony bingo and karaoke went in no short way to lifting people’s spirits through the extended period of self isolation, and for which efforts both men were awarded a trophy (see inset) from the then Dublin Lord Mayor Tom Brabazon. At this time Derek had the novel idea to entertain his neighbours not only from the carpark slot, but from the comfort of his living room with a facebook quiz. We have no doubt he will do a great job as Lord Mayor.

We would also like to offer our thanks and appreciation to the outgoing Lord Mayor of Ringsend and Irishtown Deke Rivers who served the community with great distinction.
