AsIAm: Dublin Run for Autism to take place August Bank Holiday!

12 July 2022: This August Bank Holiday weekend make sure to sign-up for what will be a brilliant family fun day at Clondalkin’s Corkagh Park, Dublin 22. On Sunday 31st July the ‘AsIAm 5K Run4Autism’ takes place with lots of fun and entertainment on offer!

Members of the autistic community and the wider public are encouraged to sign-up in advance to what is billed to be a fun and inclusive day raising much needed funds for autism services to support individuals and families. You don’t need to be a regular runner to take part as all abilities are welcome to walk or run the 5k route known as “Georgia’s Way” in memory of 4-year-old Georgia Callan who tragically died in an accident in Spain four years ago. Georgia and her family had participated in the very first 5k Run4Autism in 2018 and are asking people who take part this year to wear colourful clothes as a nod to their daughter’s bright and cheerful personality.

Kicking off at 11am the day will have lots of fun and entertainment for all including face painters, music and of course lots of ice-cream!

Speaking about the upcoming event CEO, AsIAm, Adam Harris said, “This run is a critical fundraising event for AsIAm. The money we raise goes directly to support all of the services we offer to the autistic community throughout the year including the Autism Information Line, a range of social and employment programmes as well as our autism friendly accreditation programme for the business and public services communities.”

Mum Ciara Jones from Clonee in Dublin says As a parent to an autistic child it can sometimes feel isolating, so this is a great opportunity to connect with other parents and autistic adults in a fun environment. I would encourage any parent, especially those who have had a recent diagnosis, to take part and get the opportunity to meet parents who have a shared experience.”

In signing up for this event, all participants will receive branded merchandise and a medal and refreshments. AsIAm are encouraging people and groups to fundraise whilst they partake in the event to drive much needed funds for autism services. Registration fees start at €12.50 and you can register today at www.asiam.ie
