David Bowie Masquerade Ball Comes to Town

Bowie Tribute Band Heroes from Mars return to Dublin’s Grand Social

For me, with Halloween comes an unhealthy dose of FOMO (The Fear of Missing Out). With events and parties popping off all over town, you have to choose wisely and spend the rest of the night convincing yourself that you made the best decision possible. Well, this year, for my money, you can’t go wrong with The Goblin King’s Masquerade Ball, coming to Dublin’s Grand Social on October 28th.

David Bowie tribute band Heroes from Mars return to the Dublin hotspot to pay tribute to The Thin White Duke, and his 80’s classic, Labyrinth. Heroes From Mars are a Dublin based 5-piece band who have performed all the Bowie classics to sold out audiences and, after a two year pandemic enforced break, the band are pumped and raring to get onstage to entertain all you Bowie fans.

The event promises to be a magical night of live music from the best of Bowie, along with songs from the Labyrinth, like Magic Dance and Underground. You’ll also have a selection of clips from the movie to ogle at on the big screen.

Best of all, though, is that ticket holders are invited (but it’s not essential) to turn up in fancy dress and masks or as characters from Labyrinth—bagsy being Bowie’s bulging tights!—for this spectacular Halloween show, with the best costume to be announced on the night.

Dublin has long held a spot in its heart for Bowie. The Dublin Bowie Festival—a celebration of all things Bowie albeit with, as much as possible, a Dublin slant—was devised by John Brereton in 2016, to celebrate Bowie’s birthday, which falls on January 8th. Following the musician’s untimely death, however, just two days later, the Festival emerged as a significant symbol, not just to mourn the loss of a globally influential and legendary pop icon, but also to explore the depth of his fans’ grief and enduring love.

The Goblin King’s Masquerade Ball offers fans a great way to kick-off their Bowie celebrations early this year. Whether you’re a die-hard fan, a lover of 80s classics, or simply seeking a unique and memorable Halloween experience, this Masquerade Ball offers the perfect blend of celebration and creativity. So don your masks, put on your finest costume, and prepare to dance the night away in honour of the Goblin King himself. The Goblin King’s Masquerade Ball is sure to be an unforgettable evening for all who attend.
