Gardaí car flips onto roof on Pigeon House Road

A Garda patrol car flipped onto its roof at Pigeon House Rd, Ringsend yesterday afternoon injuring a female and male officer. It is understood the on-duty Gardai were responding to  reports of youngsters collecting material for a bonfire at the time. Both officers were taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital with minor injuries and it is said that no other car was involved in the collision.

Dublin City Council is urging the public to report stockpiling of all bonfire material in the hours leading up to Halloween.

DCC: It is one the busiest times of the year for the fire services and responding to bonfire call outs creates a huge strain on existing resources. Bonfires are illegal and the public can assist the City Council by reporting any stockpiling of bonfire materials they see to its litter hotline 1800 251 500 or online  here

The council has organised a series of family-friendly events that allow people to celebrate Halloween safely. These are held all over the city and include the Otherworld Ballymun Halloween Festival and local community Halloween festivals in areas such as Ballyfermot, Ringsend, Darndale and Finglas.
