It’s not too late to get the chance to wear the green jersey and play for your country. Basketball Ireland are seeking masters level basketball players for both men and women teams from the ages of 35 upwards as they apply for entry into next year’s FIMBA World Championships in Finland 2019. If you are interested please email to the above address outlining what age group you fall into. The age groups for FIMBA are as follows :
Women: 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65 years and over,
Men: 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 65, 70,75 and 80 years and over
FIMBA (International Maxibasketball) began in the late 60s in Argentina and since then has grown in popularity. Basketball Ireland say that participation will need to be self-funded, but Basketball Ireland will provide administrative and logistical help, insurance, playing kit and teamwear.
