A Celebration of the Dublin Docker

Statue of a Docker

Next Thursday 26th October at 18.30 sees an evening in celebration of that much loved but quickly disappearing institution, the Dublin Docker!

The Yacht Tavern is hosting proceedings in association with the Irish Academic Press, to mark the launch of a new book documenting those who lived and worked at Dublin’s deep-sea port.

Aileen O’Carroll who penned “The Dublin Docker” (along with her co-writer Don Bennett), will be in attendance for the evening and she will be taking part in a live discussion with John ‘Miley’ Walsh (ex-docker).

Rare archival photographs of Ringsend’s docker history will be on display, and entertainment will be proved by Darragh Casey who will lead revellers in a number of sea shanties and ballads.
