Join 32 former Irish rugby heroes as they take on Carrauntoohil!
Caps to the Summit will see 32 former rugby stars climb to the top of Carrauntoohil to raise money for Gorta Self-Help Africa and the Alan Kerins Projects.
The Alan Kerins Projects work in Zambia to help the poorest and most disadvantaged, with the goal of “Empowering communities to shape their future”. They carry this out through focusing on areas such as training and education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, gender equality, and youth development.
Gorta Self-Help Africa aims to support the 70% of people in sub-Saharan Africa who depend either directly or indirectly on farming to survive, by helping family farms to move from producing enough to merely get by, to becoming a long-term and sustainable business.
Event founder and former Galway GAA star Alan Kerins said: “We’re encouraging individuals and companies to get involved in what is going to be a once in a lifetime experience. Climbing to the top of the highest mountain in Ireland, in the stunning surroundings of Keel, with stars like Tony Ward and Ollie Campbell, there really won’t be anything like it! The aim is to raise to €150,000 and all money collected will be invested in the inspirational work carried out by our partners in Africa and here in Ireland.”

Caps to the Summit will take place over two days from Friday, September 11, including the climb and the official Rugby World Cup preview night. Companies and individuals can sign up to climb shoulder to shoulder with these rugby greats by raising €2,500, but spaces are limited!
