Railway Union RFC Update

Railway Union RFC - September Update

A new and exciting rugby season has begun in Railway with an abundance of new players looking to build upon the many successes (and fun!) achieved last season.

They kicked off the 2015/16 season with a trip down to Mullingar, which saw two men’s teams and one women’s team taking to the field to play a friendly against Mullingar. With some great performances on all sides, the teams certainly portrayed great promise for the season ahead.

After the hard battles were fought on the pitch, all players dressed up as freaks and geeks and had a well-earned social night in Mullingar RFC. The party was kept going on a highly energetic bus back to one of Dublin’s finest nightclubs where the freaks and geeks celebrated into the early hours of the morning!

Although the season has kicked off, it’s never too late to join. Railway are constantly looking for new players and welcome all abilities, all levels and all backgrounds!

As well as our vibrant social scene, the club focusses heavily on catering for players of all levels of ability and developing their potential – from players reaching provincial or national level to a player dominating their designated position, to a player perfecting their weakness on the pitch. They work hard and play hard.

Railway fields three adult men’s sides, a men’s U20 side, three adult women’s sides and girls’ U18s and U15s sides. Railway has been one of the most successful clubs in Ireland over the last three years, winning over 25 trophies across all teams in the club.

Railway’s Men’s 1sts and 2nds play in the Leinster League, with the Men’s 3rds playing in the Metro League and the Men’s U20s in the JP Flanagan League. Railway Women’s 1sts play in All Ireland League Division 1 and are current All Ireland Cup and All Ireland 7s Champions, whilst the Women’s 2nds play in the Leinster League Division 1, having won Division 2 last season, and the Women’s 3rds play in the Leinster development league.

The club is open for members across all teams:
* If you play rugby and have just moved to the area and want to join a club
* If you’ve previously played rugby and want to get back playing
* If you’ve gone stale in your current environment and want a new challenge
* If you want to take up rugby for the first time
